I’m the Minor Explorer.
I’m Bruno, a Portuguese traveller, photographer and guide.
I’ve always been drawn to places that feel a little further away, roads that take longer than they should, and the stories you find when you stop rushing.
Minor Explorer is my way of bringing all of that together.
It started with an old car, a desire to explore, and a simple idea:
Slow is the away.
The car
My travelling companion is a 1961 Morris Minor 1000.
It isn't fast. And it certainly isn't the easiest way to travel.
But it has something that modern cars often take away from us: it makes you slow down.
The Morris also carries a personal history.
My grandfather travelled in it. My dad and mom travelled some more and then the engine broke and the car was left abandoned for 30 years. With the help of my family, we managed to bring it back to life and it is now up and running.
So when I drive it today, I like to think that I'm continuing a story.
The explorer
Minor Explorer isn't about the Morris only. It's also about the person behind the wheel.
The car is my way of exploring Portugal and, eventually, much further.
I photograph the places I find, document the roads I take, camp along the way and share the things that make a journey worth remembering.
Sometimes that means a remote mountain road.
Sometimes it's a forgotten village.
Sometimes it's simply stopping somewhere because the view looked good.
And sometimes it means wondering whether an old Morris is actually going to make it up the next hill.
That's part of the adventure.
A DIFFERENT WAY OF TRAVELLING
I don't want Minor Explorer to be about travelling as quickly, comfortably or extravagantly as possible.
I want it to be about experiencing more by slowing down.
Taking the secondary road.
Stopping when something catches your eye.
Talking to people.
Getting a little lost.
Finding places that don't necessarily appear on a list of the world's best destinations.
The journey matters just as much as where it takes you.
WHAT IS MINOR EXPLORER?
Minor Explorer is a personal travel project built around exploration, photography, slow travel and an old Morris Minor.
It is a record of the roads I take and the places I discover.
But hopefully, over time, it can become something more than that.
A source of inspiration for people who want to travel differently.
A place to discover roads worth driving, places worth stopping and experiences worth having.
And eventually, a community of people who believe that slow is not the same as boring.
COME ALONG
I don't know exactly where the road will take me.
That's the point.
For now, I'm exploring one slow kilometre at a time.
If you'd like to see where it leads, come along.

Slow is the way :)
